The 3rd June was the last chance for Harry Potter to ever grace the MTV stage…. and it lost Best Movie and Best Kiss to TWILIGHT.
To say that I am disappointed is understating things. Wouldn’t you think that the kiss between Hermione and Ron (Emma Watson and Rupert Grint respectively), which had been building up for 5 movies, which had been debated upon in length, interviewed about, and was a point of suspense for all Harry Potter fans, would beat the umpteenth kiss between Bella and Edward (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson)? And that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was just an all-round better movie than Breaking Dawn Part 1????? (Copycats) I did, but apparently was outvoted.
Seeing as this is the last year that any Harry Potter is going to be up for awards, I thought that fans’ appreciation would be shown by numerous wins and outstanding award nominations, but alas and alack! No such luck. Instead, movies like Twilight and The Hunger Games won awards that I personally think rightfully belong to Harry Potter. My indignation is shared amongst my peers. I mean, come on, the last battle between Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) has to be better than one between Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Cato (Alexander Ludwig)!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 did win Best Cast, which was completely deserved, and the gorgeous Emma Watson came up to collect HP’s last popcorn until the remake (just kidding 😛 )
