This song popped into my head in Physics as my teacher explained about the upcoming landing of NASA’s rover, Curiosity. The one-tonne vehicle was reported to have landed in a deep crater near the planet’s equator at 05:32 GMT. It will now embark on a mission of at least two years to look for evidence that Mars may once have supported life. It took 8 1/2 months to get to Mars, and despite the many things that could have gone wrong, as you can see here:
the Curiosity managed to survive the “7 Minutes of Terror”. You can read this article for in depth knowledge about the rover and its mission, as well some low-resolution pictures that Curiosity has already sent back to Earth. It’s very interesting.
So well done NASA! And in the upcoming years, we’ll be receiving reports from the rover as to whether there were indeed once life-forms on Mars.
What do you think Curiosity will find?
