This really cool phrase, coined by someone on you tube (I think) basically summarises the new phase awaiting the Star Wars films. I don’t really think they’ll have the same ‘ring’ to them.
Yep, as has been announced in newspapers and you tube and other places, George Lucas is retiring at the age of 68 and has sold his entire enterprise, including the Star Wars franchise and the copyright to special effects, to the Walt Disney Company. While he is now considerably richer ($4 billion richer), he has also allowed to happen, by this transaction, the 7th, 8th and 9th Star Wars films (which he had planned years ago but decided not to make into movies) to be made. Lucas says that “he is confident Disney will take good care of the franchise he built”. Meanwhile, Disney has announced it plans to release a new Star Wars film every two to three years after bringing out Star Wars Episode 7 in 2015 (this information was taken from here).
So what do people think??? As far as I can tell, a lot of people are opposed to this decision, although Disney doesn’t seem to be taking this into account as they buy other Star Wars merchandise and consider remaking Star Wars Episodes IV, V and VI (the first three made).
I’m not sure…just like I’m not sure about Peter Jackson turning The Hobbit into three films.
But I remain hopeful. What’s your opinion?
