There was a howling in the sepulchral night
Shrieking turned to whimpers;
Out into the dusky light
I stepped out, through the briars.
Shrieking turned to whimpers.
Behind the darkness of the trees
I stepped out through the briars,
Only to freeze.
Behind, the darkness of the trees
Shadowed the silhouettes of bodies moving;
Only to freeze
Their wan skin glowing.
Shadowed, the silhouettes of bodies moving,
Shivering sussurously like leaves,
Their wan skin glowing;
Creating an aura in the breeze.
Shivering sussurously, like leaves,
Their wings glistened,
Creating an aura in the breeze,
Tendrils reaching out, distanced
Their wings glistened,
Their mouths were hungry and dehisce
Tendrils reaching, out-distanced.
As I moved back towards the house
Their mouths were hungry and dehisce;
There was a howling in the sepulchral night,
As I moved back towards the house,
Out into the dusky light.
